Conor qualified as a Barrister in 2018.
Organised, meticulously detailed and highly communicative he is an integral part of the ReganStein team offering GDPR services to clients in his capacity as expert legal researcher. In this role, Conor is responsible for mapping out what statutes are being relied on for grounds for processing under legal obligation and also looks at identifying changes in data protection law to minimise processes already in place for business. He is involved in assisting with data protection impact assessments, legitimate interest assessments and providing justifications of public interest.
Conor spent over a year as legal executive with Transparency International Ireland, an organisation that has assisted whistleblowers such as Maurice McCabe and John Wilson in their disclosures. As part of his role with Transparency International Ireland, many of his cases concerned matters relating to data protection; in particular, misuse of personal data, data subject access requests and legal entitlements arising under the Data Protection Acts. Furthermore, he was often required to contact the office of the data protection commissioner to research legislative provisions and entitlements under the Acts.
He also operated the organisation’s “Speak-up” helpline service- Ireland’s only free-phone service for anyone facing an ethical dilemma or considering reporting wrongdoing at work. This helpline was funded by the Department of Public Expenditure. He obtained strong analytical skills through conducting extensive legal research and analysis which helped inform the organisations policy positions. Conor also managed their case/data management systems.
Conor is very aware of data protection rules. He is fully proficient with Microsoft Office package and Mac OS operating system and has experience with a legal filing database system.
Conor is currently lecturing in contract law for the FE1 Solicitor Entrance examinations and for the King’s Inns entrance examinations. He is also lecturing a Diploma in Anti Money Laundering.
